Cole Maloy
I had Mr. Kleffer as a teacher for two years. One year as a history teacher and one as a bible teacher geared towards men. After that I have kept in contact with him, revisiting his classes to tell students of college, and also keeping up with him to stay in touch. In my time knowing Devin, he has taught me what it means to be many things in my life. A student, a man, a future husband, a boyfriend, an employee, a responsible citizen, and to be all of those to the best of my ability. He has given me guidance when I needed it and his classes have pushed me in ways other classes haven't. Devin, through his teachings, has not only become a role model and mentor for me, but also a trusted friend. In the classroom, he makes himself approachable but he also makes it clear that he is the teacher and knows and understands everything he is teaching. His classes aren't only filled with knowledge, but his projects and other work can be fun because he doesn't use the same old curriculum most teachers lazily follow. He actively engaged with each student and meets them on their level, while still maintaining an overall high level in the classroom. Devin is the best professor I had in high school, and probably one of the best professors I've ever had because of his ability to lay down the law and still be approachable and make things fun. He is a teacher that, through visiting him after class, I have created a relationship with, because he is more than just the average teacher. He doesn't just care about grades or numbers or getting home to his family on time, he cares about each individual student and makes sure his students know that. I am thankful for Devin's influence in my life as a teacher and now a friend, and know he will continue to impact more students.
